1. Differentiate non-cardioembolic subtypes using ischemic stroke pathophysiology and Trial of ORG 10172 in Acute Stroke Treatment (TOAST) classification to inform selection of evidence-based antithrombotic strategies for secondary prevention
2. Explain the intrinsic and extrinsic coagulation pathways and how Factor XIa contributes to thrombosis formation
3. Analyze recent efficacy and safety data pertaining to the use of emerging Factor XIa inhibitors in clinical practice
4. Identify opportunities for pharmacists to support antithrombotic stewardship through medication therapy management, adherence monitoring, and counseling
Overview:
This session will review evidence-based antithrombotic strategies for secondary stroke prevention, equipping pharmacists to apply stroke classification systems for precise therapy selection and navigate the evolving landscape of emerging Factor XIa inhibitors.
